Dr Nienke Lees
Hello There!

A Bit About Me
I’m Dr Nienke—medical doctor, NHS GP, transformational coach, and mum of three. Life is busy, messy, and full of noise (and muddy paw prints, thanks to our golden doodle).
I love food, being outdoors, and anything to do with how the human body works—I’m a total science geek at heart.
When I'm not working you’ll usually find me in the kitchen experimenting with recipes, up a hill with the dog, running after my kids, or lifting heavy things, just because I can.

I believe in empowering women to be control of their health, and in science and compassion working together—honouring the importance of conventional treatment while supporting your whole health, from physical recovery to mental wellbeing and everything in between.

Why I Do This Work
After years working solely in the NHS, I got frustrated. There’s never enough time, resources are stretched, and so much of what we do in medicine feels like firefighting—sticking plasters instead of real solutions.
I kept seeing how much of our health is shaped by lifestyle, yet we live in a world that makes healthy choices really hard.
And then there’s the wellness industry, throwing out over-simplified advice that completely ignores the barriers so many women face.

Like a lot of doctors, I hit burnout. That forced me to stop and look at my own health. I had all the knowledge, but was I actually applying it to myself? That’s when everything shifted. I started focusing not just on what makes a difference, but how to make it work in real life. That’s what led me to coaching—helping people turn good intentions into real, sustainable change.

Now I support women through The Whole Health Medic alongside my work as an NHS general practitioner.

Why Breast Cancer Recovery?
I’ve seen too many women—patients, friends, family—feel completely lost after breast cancer treatment. You go through surgery, chemo, radiotherapy, hormonal treatments, and then… what? You’re left dealing with side effects, worrying about recurrence, and trying to figure out how to rebuild your health, often with conflicting or vague advice.

Further, the truth is, just knowing what to do isn’t enough. Change is hard, and we all need support to make it happen in a way that fits our lives. That’s where I come in. I won’t just hand you a plan—I’ll work with you to create something that’s realistic, sustainable, and flexible enough to adapt when life inevitably gets in the way. Because taking back control of your health shouldn’t feel overwhelming—you just need the right support to make it work for you.

Qualifications
I am a practising medical doctor with a license to practise through the General Medical Council. I obtained my medical degree (MB BChir) through the University of Cambridge and my general practice certificate (MRCGP) through the Royal College of General Practitioners. While I have obtained surgical qualifications (DOHNS and MRCS(ENT)) through the Royal College of Surgeons of England, I no longer perform hands on surgery in my work as a GP. I am qualified through the British Society for Lifestyle Medicine as a lifestyle medicine doctor, through the Personalised Care Institute as a health coach, and through Your Coaching Journey as a certified transformational coach.

One thing you definitely know more about than I do is you and your life, although I'd love to get to know you better! That is why I work together with you, to create action plans that are unique to you and your situation. Enough about me, let's make this about you, your health, your happiness.
